I was wondering what radio setup's people were using at this event. I noticed that some people, instead of hed sets, had a one-ear piece with the Mic and push -to-talk button strapped to their vest. Any links and tips on where to get this and also what radio to get with it would be great. Thank you.

For the local skirmishes a motorola (or similar) radio and a cheap headset from radio shack works great for me. If you intend to go to large ops an icom radio with a higher end headset would be a great investment. I personally can't recommend one as I as of yet don't own one, but that's my next buy.

I use an ICOM f4s radio and a pryme boom mic and ptt. It is leaps and bounds above talk-about radios and many of those rhino gps radios (this is based off of experiences at OK invasion).

I would search for a used ICOM as they can be had for relatively cheap. You want one that is running on UHF frequencies and not VHF as the vast majority of people will be on UHF frequencies. As for the headset and ptt, I bought those new and paid a pretty penny for them, but I can actually hear and talk to people using them in conjunction with the ICOM.

Whatever you do, do not get a crappy throat mic. If you do, I, along with many other members, will kick you in the shins.

I was using a Motorola Talkabout with an ear-bud that had a push-to-talk attachment. The radio works fine for TxPb and TacPb but the mic is useless. It functions, but for airsoft it does not stay on your ear and falls out at the moments notice making my radio useless. At one point when I was crawling I radioed my team telling them I was going to be off the radio cause I could not keep putting back in my ear. I would recommend going to route my brother said and save up for an Icom with a nice secure headset, and no throat mics. Not unless you really know how to use one.

Thank you. Any Idea where I can get one of these? And will this headset do?

Edit:
I found this radio. Good price and right kind?
